Step 1: Apply for Admission Permit

  • Confirm Course Information
  • Decide on the Admission Term
  • Prepare and Submit Documents
  • Review Period: Approximately 2-3 Weeks
  • After Approval, the Center Will Send the Admission Permit via Email

Once approved, the center will notify you via email to complete the payment process within 5 working days. The fees include a registration fee of TWD 500 and a tuition fee of TWD 1000. (Please refer to the payment methods). After confirming the payment, the center will send the admission permit to you via email.

For those who successfully obtain a visa and enroll, only the tuition fee needs to be paid upon enrollment. If the visa is not obtained successfully, reapplying for another term within the same year will not incur additional fees. However, applications for the following year will incur additional fees.

Currently, the admission permit is mainly provided in electronic form. If an official paper admission permit is required by an overseas office, the center will mail the paper admission permit to the address you provided.

▲For those who do not need to apply for a Chinese language study visa, the center will notify you of the application results.

*According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the approval or rejection of a visa is a sovereign act. Therefore, the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) has the right to refuse to disclose the reasons for visa denial.

Obtain the Chinese language study visa, which is a visitor visa. The stay duration is between 60 to 90 days and can be extended in Taiwan.。

【Visa and Alien Resident Certificate (ARC)】The Chinese language study visa is a visitor visa. If you are a recipient of the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship, your visa type may be a resident visa. Holders of a resident visa must apply for an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) and a re-entry permit at the National Immigration Agency service center within 15 days of the next day after entry or within 15 days from the issuance date of the resident visa in Taiwan. Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) Related Information

I. Application for Extension of Visitor Visa

(1) Required Documents:

  • Foreign National Resident (Visitor) Visa Application Form (available at the office)
  • Original Passport
  • Proof of Enrollment and Attendance Record from the Chinese Language Center (available at the office)
  • Fee: Free of Charge

(2) Application Conditions and Instructions:

  • Issuing Authority: Taichung First Service Center of the National Immigration Agency
  • Holders of visitor visas for 60 days or more and 90 days or more, without a no-extension stamp, who need to continue their stay, must apply with the necessary documents within 15 days before the expiration of the stay period.
  • The stay period starts from the day following entry into the country.
  • Holders of landing visas or those who entered under visa-free entry cannot apply for an extension.
  • Each extension cannot exceed the original visa’s permitted stay period. The total stay period cannot exceed 6 months or 180 days.
  • If an extension beyond 6 months or 180 days is necessary due to force majeure or other significant incidents, an application must be submitted in advance to the service center of the National Immigration Agency in the area of stay.

II. Application for Alien Resident Certificate (ARC)

Starting January 1, 2024, those who come to Taiwan for study purposes with a visitor visa must apply for an ARC at the local service center of the National Immigration Agency or through the online application system before the visitor visa expires.

(1) Required Documents:

  • One recent color passport-size photo taken within the last 2 years (front view, no hat)
  • Photocopy of passport (passport must be valid for more than 6 months and have blank pages)
  • Photocopy of visitor visa
  • Proof of Enrollment (at least 4 months of study completed and continued enrollment for more than 3 months), Attendance Record (at least 4 months of study completed; maximum absence rate is 25%)
  • Health Examination Certificate (within the last 3 months) (Health Examination Checklist – Form B)
  • Proof of current residence (e.g., rental agreement, copy of the property title if residing with the owner, copy of the national ID card of the Taiwanese owner, and the owner’s consent statement, or other documents proving the applicant’s actual residence)
  • Other documents as required by the case, such as proof of purpose for coming to Taiwan, guarantor’s certificate from a person in Taiwan, etc.

(2) Instructions:

  • Issuing Authority: Taichung First Service Center of the National Immigration Agency
  • The fee for each ARC with a one-year validity is TWD 1,000. However, those who entered with a visa-free entry or a visitor visa will be charged an additional TWD 2,200.
  • Processing Time: 10 working days (excluding time for re-submission and interviews). If the application materials are incomplete or incorrect, the applicant must make corrections within 15 days of notification; for corrections requiring documents from overseas, the mainland, Hong Kong, or Macau, the period is three months. Failure to correct or incomplete correction will result in rejection of the application (processing time resets to 10 working days upon resubmission).

(3) Important Notes:

  • Those with a 180-day visitor visa marked “No Extension” can apply.
  • Applications can be submitted within 15 days before the visa expires.
  • The ARC validity starts from the day following approval.
  • The maximum validity period for an ARC for Chinese language study is one year.
  • If the ARC cannot be obtained before the visitor visa expires, the applicant must leave the country by the visa expiration date.
