Mission Statements

The Chinese Language Center at Hungkuang University was established in June 2021 with the goal of promoting campus internationalization and supporting the government’s efforts in Chinese language education. The center has been actively expanding its services to provide Mandarin Chinese courses to more foreign students and international sister school students. Its mission is driven by a commitment to sustainable development and defined objectives.

As per the guidelines set on June 21, 2021, the center’s organizational goal is to “implement the government’s promotion of Chinese language education for foreigners and enhance cultural exchange on the international stage.”

The responsibilities of the Center for Chinese Language Studies include:

A. Conducting Mandarin Chinese language courses for foreign students on campus and related activities:

1. Offering Chinese language courses to foreign individuals to enhance their Chinese language proficiency.
2. Organizing cultural exchange and study programs for students from sister universities.
3. Hosting Chinese language exchange events and competitions for foreign students.
4. Providing Chinese language teacher training and certification programs.
5. Promoting other relevant matters related to Chinese language education.

The target audience for these programs extends beyond enrolled foreign students at the university and includes foreign friends, family members, and foreign laborers interested in learning Chinese. The aim is to help them learn basic Mandarin and facilitate their integration into Taiwanese society. In recent years, the center has also organized summer Chinese language immersion programs, allowing high school and university students from different countries to experience the charm of Taiwan’s culture while learning the language.
